Going oem is probably the easiest route to go, the only downside is that the same issue may happen again. If you go with aftermarket speakers the Infinity Reference series speakers are one of the most sensitive aftermarket speakers out there and thus can still sound nice and reach a decent volume even when being powered by the stock ML amp. The problem with a lot of aftermarket speakers is that they can require more power to reach the same volume level as the manufacturers speakers, which is where sensitivity comes in to play.

really? never thought that having to find a good replacement speakers is going to be such a mission. example if i cant find a good set of OEM ML speakers to replace my beat ones. what should i look for in an aftermarket speakers that wouldn't hurt my ML music pleasure lol. not sounding like junk. i listen to all types of music and play it loud sometimes.(only when its a really good good or my girlfriend gets in the car) most of the time i play it on the lower side BC i enjoying the air tight cabin.
sorry for drafting away from my question about speakers. any what watt power? ome? 2-way or 3-way. component speakers change out the tweeters also if so what size are they ?

Actually, I was just looking at the specs. on the ML speakers and it looks like your factory speakers are all 8 ohms which will make using aftermarket speaker a bit more difficult.
Basically most aftermarket speakers 2 or 4 ohms and when placed on amp that's designed to handle an 8 ohm load will cause the amp to work harder and could potentially cause damage to the factory ML amp.
That being said, your easiest solution would be to buy new or newer(like out of an 05-06 LS) ML speakers. They cost about $100 a piece new from Sewell Lexus with the Club Lexus discount code. Keep in mind, the ML speakers are foam/paper and sound great when in good shape, but those materials aren't the best for longevity.
Second option would be to replace all four speakers(components up front) and also replace the ML amp with a nice quality aftermarket one. That's what I've done in every Lexus I've had including an LS430 and have always been pleased with the improved sound quality and volume. It does cost a bit more to replace everything though.
