Double check to be sure the 275/40's are what you really want before buying them. I had 275/40 Dunlops on my '03 and they were simply too tall looking a sidewall -- and i do not like rubberband-looking tires, yet I still feel the 40's were too tall. I debated on the size when buying the Pilot Sports (because I didn't want to sacrafice any more ride/quiet/comfort than I had to for the 19's) but decided to go with 275/35's, and I'm happy that I did -- I don't think they look too tall nor too short (plus I've since decided that the tire selection itself has a lot more to do with noise and ride than a half-inch of sidewall when you're already at 3.8" on the 35's anyway). Also, I happened to see a new 750i sitting on my street a couple weeks ago with its 275/40 Pilot Sport A/S Plus (same tire I have) and I was definitely reassured -- glad I didn't get 40's as they looked wrong on the 750. Just my $.02...

BTW, car looks good!

A little icing on the "double-check before getting 275/40/19's" cake...
If you do, you may need to re-position the lower molding/ground effects mount as shown in the attached photo, depending upon your wheel offset. It's not a big deal to do, but notice that I had to bend the top mount forward and flex the ground effects around a little bit to create clearance to prevent rubbing over whoop-de-doos when I had a load in the car. You can see part of the stainless steel fastener that I used to replace the little plastic factory one. I painted the fastener black after making this photo, so it looked stock to anyone other than a fanatic, but it's a mod you might have to do. And my car wasn't nearly as low as you like to run yours.

While we're at it, here's what 275/40's look like on 19's. You can see the 275/35's in the other pics I've posted of my '05. This photo makes them look a little more exaggerated than they did in real life, but you get the point -- just a bit on the tall side....

i6turbo: i actually thought this would be the case when i looked into my little crystal ball. i foresaw wanting 275x40's but going with 275x35's for all of the obvious reasons. so those pilot pluses you keep promoting have these 275x35x19's right? i'll prolly go with those when its time. also what was the price if you recall?

thanks for the positive and constructive comments guys.

They're pretty rough on the wallet ~ $1100-1400 for a set +/- depending upon how good a deal you find at the time. I got mine at Discount Tire with them matching an internet price from tiresonline.com (I believe it was), got a $60 Michelin rebate and a $70 Discount Tire rebate, and ended up at something less than $1100 all done. Discount's regular OTD price is about $1400.

250-300$ a tire i would consider in the normal range for high end tires and you definitely don't wanna go cheap on your tires

don't stretch when you don't need to...you can tell his wheels is not aggressive.

I guess what I'm trying to say is....it depends how low you wanna ride and if you decide to add spacers on them. And if your trying to run flush.....but like he said ^ if your not trying to go that aggressive then you can go the 275 route.....

i was thinking to add 10 mm spacers front and back and then roll/shave the fenders to have it sit flush, but this is a future project.
