Default LS 430 Sub woofer replacement

Can someone give me details regarding replacing the subwoofer on the rear deck? My sub is blown and I can't figure out how to gain access to it. Also, I've read many posts on the replacement unit regarding impedence and ohms and such and I am still confused. Does anyone have a good replacement make and model that will drop in physically and electrically?

Rus is selling a "replacement" sub here. It is not an oem sub but is a 12 ohm sub which is what the factory sub is.

To remove it... crawl in the trunk, pull the top panel down- there are clips that you sorta pull backwards, and the panel will fall down. Then you can see the sub. take a tiny screwdriver and look for the white pointy tabs sticking through the metal. These are the grill tabs. use the screwdriver to push them up and through. Then, get in the back seat, the grill will be loose, pull it off, and then you'll need a 10mm socket. lift up the top panel so you can get the bolts out. use the tiny screwdriver to push the tab down to release the wire connector. to get the sub actually out, you'll pull it through the hole which is too small- so it will wreck the edge a little, but it will all be covered by the grill. I suppose the real solution is to take the whole deck panel off, but that looked like to much work. i've heard a JL 8w0 is a decent replacement... I'll be replacing it with an Eclipse aluminum 12... but thats a whole other story...

If it is making that crackling sound, you know you can fix it. Theres a post either on here or lexus owners club that references popping the cover and using a hot glue gun where the rubbery/foam part of the cone meets the plastic, or where the foam meets the paper it depends on how yours separated. I had a couple separations on mine in a couple spots, put down a thick bead and its been working great, find the post, if it just sounds like bad bass but the speaker is still producing sound you can probably fix it.
