2004+ LS430 vs 2006 GS430

Considering you posted this question in this section of CL, I assume you are partial to the LS. More than likely you have already made up your mind and already know what I'm about to say.... The LS has unsurpassed class and luxury. Several leading magazines have already sung the praises of the 2004 - 2006 model LS and Consumer Reports has recently reported that the 04-06 LS 430 is the absolute best used vehicle in the Luxury class. The accolades go on and on. There is nothing wrong with the GS, it just doesn't have the presence, panache and head turning ability that the LS does. Of course, this is just my opinion and obviously I am partial to the LS myself. One thing I am fairly certain of is that no one who currently owns an LS is regretting their decision and wishing that they would have purchased a different Lexus instead. (Of course there are always some exceptions.)

I don't like the look of the newer GS. I used to have a 2000 GS, and I loved the looks of that thing overer the newer models.

But in any case, LS please. It's just a whole different class.

I own neither, I have an 05' GS300 and I the car Ive been wanting is the LS430. Its just pure luxury. There are only a few cars that make my head turn and the LS is one of them. God, I cant even describe how I like it, plus remeber when it was new it costed a whole lot more than the GS. Personally I dont like the new GS, I actually like mine even more. Now............

The 04-06 has been my dream ride, i finally got an 04 CPO Flint Mica last week, and i love this car more than i dreamed i would! The LS is the flagship of the Lexus fleet for a reason, it is on a whole other level IMO. The new GS is still growing on me (i like the old one) and i hate they made it smaller.

if your not a family man, I'll go for the 2006 GS430, or maybe 07 GS350 w/ the gen 5 navigation... I think the LS handles very poorly (coming from BMW 545i), I feel nervious making turns at higher speeds... doesn't have that "grounded" feel... but if you need the size (like i do) the LS is great choice...

LS430 is the smoothest car I have ever driven. I say test drive both cars and see which one you like. Its all up to your preference. You can't go wrong w/ either cars. And you won't be disappointed in either or. "L" = Luxury

Exactly the last 2 cars I considered when I shop for my 05' LS430.

Just personal preferences really, one is not better then the other. Same price.

LS430, especially the Ultra luxury, is pure luxury, silent, more space, smoother.

GS430 is much more sporty, smaller, nimble, but much less luxury compare to the UL.

Luxury VIP or sport sedan, it is your call.

Like KILLERGS4, I too came from a BMW 545i. I agree with him completely about the handling. When coming up HW17 (Northern California- a very curvy road) the BMW felt like it was literally GLUED to the ground, whereas the LS feels significantly less confident. However, since 90%+ of my driving isn't "spirited", the pros of an LS vs say a BMW of IS/GS far outweigh the cons. The interior of even the 7-series pales in comparison to that of the LS. I suppose everything I stated above was really just a lengthy way of saying, I'd go with the LS.

BUY BOTH

Also, as L_Sport stated, you can't go wrong with the big body!
