Aftermarket Radio in 2005 LS430
I'm trying to decide on whether to purchase a 2005 LS430 with or without the Navigation System.
Either way, I want to install a totally new aftermarket stereo system with my own head unit, 3 amplifiers, and speakers (including subwoofers). This equipment is top-notch (nothing is too good for the LS430)!
Does anyone know where I can get an installation kit (that looks OEM) to install an aftermarket radio in either scenario (with or without the Nav)?
I would appreciate any help you can offer.
Thanks!

I have 2005 LS430--for $4K at the time, I skipped the Nav system. I did it because of technology. I remember the Cadillacs with built in phones which became obsolete with when cells hit the market. Furthermore, I understand Nav systems can be bought for $350 to $500 and moved from car to car.

well..you cant get rid of the stock nav in the LS430 cause the climate controls are in the nav as well....so lets get back to the car that doesnt have nav...any good stereo shop should be able to fabricate a custom bezel for the aftermarket headunit you wanna install!!

Okay, that unit is much too low. I have a Garmin with text to speech that sits on dash and at times I still need to look at the unit, so with this unit, it's too far down and you end up taking your eyes off the road too far.
Also, portable units, good in theory that you can move from car to car, but the "ugly" wires everywhere and even if you have a battery unit, it's still plugged in at some point.
If available, go with the in-dash unit, it's not like roads change by the minute. Just upgrade every other year and you'll be fine. New roads within two years (some times five, depending on where you are) are usually not even on the new maps (only two companies provide GPS maps) so it doesn't matter.

I think the OP's concern is around being able to install an aftermarket headunit, not navigation.
I have a similar concern, and I've decided to go for buying an LS430 without nav. I remember seeing a thread where someone integrated the stock navi with an aftermarket HU, but I don't think its worth the trouble or the extra cost. And there are also some incredible deals on LS430's w/o nav.
