Loaner Car (dealer refuses to provide loaner)
I bought my 2004 ls from a non-lexus dealer. It is still under warranty, and needs a couple of things done. The dealer said since I did not buy it there, that they will not give me a loaner. Is this right, or should I complain to corporate Lexus?

Definitely complain. At the dealership where I work, anyone can get a loaner provided that the service will take 2 or more hours (in most cases), regardless of whether or not they purchased their vehicle there.

****, Ive gotten so coo with my rep that he gives me the loaner car to run errands when I go in for an oil change. Everyone is suppose to get a loaner car if you are going to have work done on that car that will take serveral hours.

Loaner for me whenever I have any service (even a car wash if the wait is a bit, and I have errands to run)..
Speaking of which.. I need to fire off an email to let them know I'll need one this weekend when I bring the car in on Thursday morning..

It should not matter if you didn't buy from them. Fact is you own a Lexus that is under warranty and therefore you are entitled to all the perks. I would complaint to the G.M or owner if not already, and if no good results kick of a complaint to corporate. Tell them even if it's a lie that you own a S500 that you purchased from a private owner and the Mercedes dealership always give you a loaner when your car is being serviced and that if this is how Lexus dealerships behaves then you will just get rid of it and stick with Mercedes. See how they react to that.

i agree with sonnyman... if the work requires more than 2 hrs, they should give you a loaner REGARDLESS. sometimes they might be real low on loaners, especially if you didn't make appointments, and that might have been the case. It also helps if you arrive ealry in the morning vs later in the day when all the loaners are gone.

The supplementary owners information manual states that loaner will be available for customers. A Lexus was purchased from a dealer when ti was new, and every dealer has to honor it. I would take to the service manager first, maybe he will be able to help.
But some dealers run aroudn the bush... like my old dealer used to tell me they didnt have any loaners when i show up, after i had already reserved one. Then the service advisor would open my hood, just to see if there was a Lexus of Tampa sticker on the air filter box, once he spots it, then he would ask me to come in, and he'll try and find something.... volla... a loaner would be actually waiting for me.

I called Corp Lexus - They told me their minimum policy is if a car is held for 8 hours with warranty work, then the dealership is required to give a loaner car. I called back to the service guy - told him I called corp - he said he would talk to his GM and let me know if he will give me a loaner. I will update after he calls back.
