Hi Guys, how tough is the install? I am not very technical at all. Any sepcial tools needed? Are the instructions easy to follow? If I have issues, can I easily swap back for the stock tail lights?

The install is pretty straight forward and does not require any special tools. The trickiest part is securing the ballast inside the trunk lid. I used a couple of cable ties to fasten them inside so they wouldn't roll around or get loose when closing the trunk lid. The other thing is taking the trunk lid liner off to gain access. The plastic clips can be difficult to line up at times.
You can always go back to the original lamps but why would you when the look is soooo much cleaner looking.
Good luck and let us know how you did.

The price of these have sure gone UP. I purchased my non-LED rears taillights from Option Racing and they cost me around $100. Now the prices are around $300

Resurrecting this thread.

mdawg630, my passenger side non-LED tail light is cracked, if you're willing to sell your passenger assembly, send me an IM.

Incidentally, I found this website that appears to have the non-LED tails in stock, however there are no prices and it looks shady. I "requested a quote" and instead of quoting me a price for the tails, they charged my credit card $12.01. WTF!

Count me in. I wanted to do the whole retro fitting of the new model taillights, but it's too much work to do all the trunk and stuff...

I'd love to get my hands on one of these for my '01 430, depending on price...

Hey guys, reviving this thread to look for long term feedback from members who have had the tails for several years now.

Got myself an 03 UL awhile back, ready to bring the rear end into 2016

Couldnt find anything on ebay (phew) bought these from topgearauto:

Did the resistors come already in-line or did you all have to splice them in yourselves?

Thanks!

Brandicus, I just installed these on my car a few days ago....it comes with 4 resistors...all u have to do is remove the old taillights and trunk lights, remove the harness from the old and plug into the new and plug back into the car...each taillight and trunk light has a connection for a resistor so you will hook up a resistor to each tail and trunk light...it took sometime but was pretty easy to do...and NO SPLICING whatsoever its all plug n play, good luck!

These are the ones I got a while back. I have a thread on them if you look. I had some issues with how I wired mine but I sorted it out and havent had any issues. Had some wires on mine backwards. Its plug and play.
