The S550 has been amazingly stellar. She has not given a single problem in her nearly 5 years of service and performs in rare form on every road trip. She has been from Houston to New Orleans several times and has not once hesitated or even displayed a symptom of a problem. Call me crazy, but I believe the S550 will be as good as my LS, reliability wise (although scheduled maintenance is much more expensive).

Default 115000 miles on my 2005 430LS

i just bought my third set of tires. I have had the car carefully serviced at Lexus of Rockville, my beloved dealership. The driver front seat lacks heat and cooling and is not as comfortable as it once was. The ride is slightly less comfortable. But I love the car and plan to keep it until 2018 if it makes it.

It seems as durable as a tank. I get it detailed every 5 months at the dealership so the finish looks pretty decent for a 10 year old car.

Best car I ever owned by far. No major repairs at all.

Default 208,000 on my 2001 LS430 and still going...

I just bought a 2001 LS430 Ultra with 207,000 miles on it and an inch worth of service records from their local repair shop. The Timing Belt has been replace twice, the last time at 193,000 miles, so we are good there.

The UL LS430 had the usual issues when I bought it. I'll list them below:
1) Bad Hood support Struts. $35 for a pair at Amazon... They work great now.
2) Bad Trunk support Struts. $35 for a pair at Amazon... They work great now too.
3) Worn Front and Rear Break Pad Sensors. Replaced both for $60 parts and labor.
4) Drivers Side door pocket broken and wouldn't stay closed. Repaired with Velcro. $1.00
5) Sunglass holder broken in Headliner console. Reversed Spring on left side and now it stays closed. Cost $0.00.
6) Carpet smelled and looked horrible. Previous owner must not have cleaned it in 15 years. Steam and Shampoo Interior and full Leather treatment from Detail Company. $100

Still to Fix...
7) Drivers side seat foam is the absolute worst. Local auto upholstery shop will remove seat, cover, steam foam to renew, add carpet pad to the bottom, then foam, then additional foam for additional support for $150. Cant wait for this because my lower back hurts while driving this LS430 for more than 30 miles. One trick for the UL is to make sure that the lower seat cushion is adjusted all of the way back into the upper lumbar seat cushion. This causes your butt to sit in a section of the seat that may have more padding and better on your back.

I plan on driving this car for about 1,500 per week. My goal with this LS430 is 350,000 miles or more. As long as I change the timing belt, water pump, belts and hoses, I should be good to go...

Any suggestions from anybody else out there on LS430 longevity would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You,
Kirk

Great advice on adjusting the lower seat cushion back into the upper seat back.

Excellent! How many miles does it have? What year is it?
Which rides better and is more quiet and has the better sound system.?

Early 2004 model LS430, with almost 105K on her. Everything stock, except 16" rims off a 2001 LS430, and storage box instead of the cigarette light box on dash.

Only issues with vehicle is the radio volume control on the steering wheel doesn't work. Everything else is a okay...

Default 277,801 miles

I have 277,801 miles on my 2004 Ls. The most recent repair was replacing the radiator fans that stopped operating. Currently my navigation screen doesn't respond accurately when it's pressed. I have tried to trade her in numerous times but the car hasn't given me a good reason to do it. I almost traded her for the new Xj. I equate the LS with a wife who is not the prettiest, the sex may be average and she may have gained a few pounds. But she cooks, cleans, takes care of the kids, caters to your needs, works and will never divorce you. Damn I love my LS.
