Default Feel any difference with a different tyre size?

The factory standard tyre size for my LS430 2004 is 225/55/R17. My friend has offered me a set of new 225/45/R17 of the same brand at a very low price. Has anyone done this and felt any difference in ride and brake apart from the outlook?

7.1% smaller tire diameter. Speedo will be off and look hella stupid going down the road. Also load capacity of the tire is a factor

Thanks for the comment. To accept this hard to resist offer will mean a huge saving but at the same time lowering the comfort and outlook of my car which I am prepared to accept. The only thing I am concerned is safety.

Take and sell them on Craig's List. Those tires would look like hell on that car. 225 45 17's are just too small.

Shop around and use the money to get a proper size tire. I have two LS 430's with 17 inch wheels and on both I installed 235 60 17 Yokohama's. I doubt if they are rated for speeds above 130 mph, but they fill up the wheel wells and look great. They also give a much better ride.

Factory tire size just looks too small.

@Lorenr mind if we see a pic of those tires? I've never seen a 235 60 17 on an LS before, interested to see how that fills up. Do you find the wheel to be too small?

Another thing to caution for a 225 55 17 is that now the wheel would be closer to the BKK, may lead to rubbing. I have no idea if it would or not, just something important to take into account.
