Default rims cause losing air, help!

my 03 ls430 been losing more air in one tire than before. i've been losing about 5psi every week. brought the car in the tire place today and they told me that it's because of the chrome rims that i have on. i bought the car in 03 with the chrome rims but the rims were added on by the dealer for $1700 extra that i had to pay. now this guy at the tire place told me that around the egde of one of the rims is rough by the chrome and that what cause the air to come out. my question is, will lexus warranty the chrome rims that the dealer put on? i can't bring it back to where i brought because i've moved. please tell me what to do. thanks

I had the same problem with a '99 GS 300. Lexus finally replaced all 4 rims for me, so they know its a problem.

Check your valve stems first, before you go off on the dealer for the rims.

For a pittance of $20 or so, you could have them all replaced and maybe that would help...then again, maybe not.

man8959,

Just show them your auto insurance card and let them see that you have an LS, GS, RX, and GX. I can't believe you own four Lexus' man, that's awesome!!

yes i already did that. i even make them take the tire of the rim to see any nails but it isn't the tire it's the edge of the rims is rough from the chrome that makes the air to leak.
