Default lucky day / no dent

I was in my car at lunch, at a grocery store, parked pretty far away from the front, on a call.

A shopping cart must have been going around 5 mph, and slammed into the front right.

I had a sick feeling, like Charlie Daniels in that tune where he's in a bar and his hair falls out of his hat.....

Pretty unbelievable. The part under that cart that's the tray, hit the front tire. So the force was borne by the Xice Xi3, and there is a tiny black mark on the lip of the fender, about the size of your thumbnail when you trim it. I think it will come out with cleaner wax, and there's no dent that I can see....YIKES!! Note to self, next time, park downhill of other cars, even if far away....

I'd park uphill, not downhill.

Well, what I did, was if you envision a large grocery parking lot, and then have the spaced divided by an island, I parked with my driver side curbed, uphill of the island, because there was nobody near me. But, this left me exposed to anything uphill of me. If I had chosen the other side of the island, then this cart would have slammed into the island. It was going 5 mph, no lie, which is why I had a sick feeling....could I use my comp? I guess, but now I have an accident and body work. I've seen it happen to others before, but never experienced it myself personally....

You got lucky... first week after I got my 2002 I was in Sam's parking lot and parked way out by myself. Next day I see this dent on the passenger side front quarter. Went back to Sams and their raised carts matched perfectly with the two dents on that side. Then I remember the only person close by was the cart collector in the parking lot. Thinking he used my car as target practice. Glad your damage was minimal.

Sometimes, but not today. I was on a phone call/bluetooth, when the cart came and struck the car. I then went inside to buy some stuff and swing by the car wash who gave me a $50 gift card because of the door caps coming off.....I gotta tell you good customer service there.

But to answer your question, on the way back from my Jersey City trips, I stopped by 2X on the turnpike, and got a Arthur Treacher's fried platter, then texted a pic to my buddy with the food on the pass. seat, and my caption was, "not a A8L, you can eat inside!!" He would tell me 1) blashphemy 2) watch your cholesterol!

edit: here's an old shot from inside my mobile sofa/cafeteria on wheels--"not an A8L!"
