I searched this forum and couldn't find the exact answer to these questions, so here goes:

1. The brochure says that perforated leather was required for cooled/heated seats. However, the premium package includes climate-controlled seats but no perforated leather. My understanding was that you needed custom or ultra lux for perforated seats. Can you have climate-controlled seats with modern lux only, and standard leather?

2. I understand the nav was upgraded in 2004, including both software and hardware. Is it the same system as in the GS? The nav doesn't seem to have the resolution of the GS.

I have an '04 LS with the Premium Package which includes perforated leather, cooled front seats and heated front and rear seats. I don't think it's possible to have non-perforated leather cooled seats. Sorry, but I don't have the nav system, so I can't help with your second question.

Is it perforated leather in the "normal" leather options- i.e. ash or cashmere, or do you have the ecru or black?

I believe the perforated leather is 'special' -- i.e. Ecru, Saddle, or Black

As for the NAVI, from the pics I've seen, the '05 LS NAVI looks identical to the '05 GS NAVI.

the nav on the 04 ls430 are NOT the same as that on the gs. the 04 ls430 has the 4th generation nav, whereas for the gs, they didn't get the 4th generation nav until 06 (new design). the 05 is still on the 3rd gen with no voice recognition and bluetooth.

Strange........I do have "Ash" leather and although the brochure/website doesn't show "Ash" as a color available with perforations, mine does have perforations on all seating areas. I would think that any Lexus with cooled seats would have to have perforations for the air to flow through.

Just to be clear, the '05 LS has Voice Recognition and Bluetooth, plus the menus and screens look the same as the '06 GS--same color choices, calendar....

You MUST HAVE to have the perfoarted leather to have the climate seats. The standard is the non perforated without the climate seats. However I dont think lexus has produced any without the climate seats, so disregard the solid leather patches in the brochure. The Cashmere, Ash, and Black are available on a Non Custom-Luxury/Ultra Luxury. The Custom Luxury/Ultra-Luxury only comes with the Ecru, Black, or Saddle.

yes, the 04 ls430 has voice recognition and bluetooth. it's the first yr they have the 4th gen nav

The 2001-2003 even have voice Recognition, But NO BLUETOOTH
