Any updates?
Hello:
Just wondering if you or others have an update for us on the install inside the center rear brake light?
I am planning on getting the same install of XM.
Thanks.

They said they had never installed the antenna inside the center mounted rear brake light before but would try. I picked up the car this morning, the dealer said everything went great and that the antenna fit inside the brake light. The car looks the same, no sign of any installation on the rear deck or inside the trunk.
Drove to my office, called XM Radio and had 120 channels within 10 minutes.
Dealer Name: Longo Lexus, El Monte CA.
I will update later on problems with reception if any.

I'm thinking about getting my XM relocated from the trunk to the brake light assembly too. I'm going to contact a couple of dealerships directly and see what their experience has been.

Sorry about that digital_b. I could make a number of excuses (travel, etc.) but the bottom line is that I forgot to take some pictures and post them.
I will take the pictures today and get them on the Forum.

Here are the pictures (one inside and one outside). Sorry it took so long to post them. I've been very happy with the installation and the service. The reception is fine with the exception of a couple of areas where I lose it for a few seconds. I know others with the service who lose it in the same place.
With respect to the rear sunshade, it doesn't affect reception at all. I wouldn't expect it to since it is inside of the rear center brake light where the antenna is.
Good luck!

you can get them painted
You also can get the antenna painted the same color as you car go to www.colormatchantenna.com
If you put the antenna inside it may work. Metallic paint is NOT an issue in regards to getting them painted, otherwise why would Audi and Acura, and Honda have them painted from the factory. But what I've heard can be an issue is dark tint. No tint go inside, you'll get away with it more with XM than Sirius. My good friend works at a car stereo shop and setup my stuff.

Anyone have the antenna moved?
Since reading these posts, I was thinking about having my dealer move the antenna from the trunk to the brake light, but I am concerned that the antenna will leave a mark on the trunk and I don't feel like dealing with body work.
Does anyone know if it will leave a mark?

2006 GS 300 XM Radio Antenna Location
Just ordered a 2006 GS 300 with XM. The dealer says the antenna has to go on the passenger side of the trunk lid. I think it would be a shame to add this 3x3x2 box to the trunk lid and ruin the lines of the car. Does anyone have any experience locating the XM antenna on a 2006 GS 300. Maybe on the inside on top of the brake lamp as they did on the 2004 LS?
Many thanks.
