2001 Ultra wood options..
Do any of you guys remember what wood options were available in the 2001 Ultra Lux version of the LS? I know there was a gray-looking wood available but I'm wondering (and hoping) there was a more natural wood color avaialble. Yes, No? Thanks!

Gray or Purple
I know. I was there. There was no custom trim level. We had only two interior options in the ultra. Ecru with a worn gray wood or indigo black with Bordeaux wood. There were no other options. I remember wishing there was a normal looking option. In bright sun, the Bordeaux looks purple. Someone had too much Saki when these woods were selected.

You can always buy all the wood trim of a particular type that Lexus makes for the '01-'04 LS and retro-fit to your LS. Gonna cost some $$$ though. Personally, I like the Ecru birdseye maple. I didn't at first. I thought it looked like somebody took some burnt logs out of a fireplace, polished them up, and called it Ecru birdseye maple. Anyway it grows on you. It is unusual for wood trim and you don't find it around much. Otherwise, wood is brown/red. And there are only so many shades of brown...
When people get in my car for the first time, the first thing they notice is the wood trim and how beautiful and exotic it is. And most think it's marble before I tell them its wood. And, frankly, I think that was the effect Lexus was going for. Anyway, everybody has some kind of wood trim whether real or fake even Kia and Daewoo. And most people can't even tell the difference between the real and the fake. Anyway, I just think the Ecru stands out from all the rest and I like that.

Yes, that would be my choice if I were in the market for the LS. Not everybody like that saddle color, but I think it's very rich looking and appropiate for a luxury car like the LS, and is lower maintainence than the ecru.

So I guess if I want a CPO LS430 Ultra then it'll have to be the gray wood. That's a shame because I really don't like it. I guess I'll have to settle for a lesser optioned vehicle -- or perhaps I should just jump in all the way and get a brand new one! Thanks for all of your input.

I would have loved the saddle leather color also. My ultra, like the others, is in the grey wood. Pretty, but a warmer wood with a saddle leather interior would have been gorgeous with the gold exterior. Maybe a replacement LS430 some day????
