Default Anyone know how to wire a Valentine One into an LS430?

V1 from my previous BMW X5 was wired in to the sunroof power supply.

Anyone have idiot-proof instructions how to do this in an 04 LS430?

These instructions are for 2001-2003, but I'm sure it would be the same for 2004.

Accessory power (ignition power P-IGN) is available in the overhead console. The console cover can be removed by poping out the lense and undoing a couple screws. Locate the 32 pin connector and P-IGN power is located on pin 26 as a light green wire with red stripe and GND is on pin 1 white wire w/ black stripe.

Accessory power is also available from your lighter plug in your lower center console. The center console is removed by removing the chrome shifter trim and poping all 4 corners of the wood cover. Below this is a wire connector going to your lighter plug. The pink wire on this connector is + power and white w/ black stripe wire is GND.

Note: Another owner had to turn off Laser detection of his V1 when using the laser cruise control.

Congrats on your new LS430!
Hope to see you around Redmond. I'm a 2002 Silver Ultra Lux with color matched mud guards and rear spoiler.

Thanks for the help. What is the best way to get the lenses out without damaging the console? I'd hate to scratch or crack a lens in a 2 day old car!

The Valentine One comes with a wiring harness connector (below) to splice in to a power wire - if I connect the red power harness (with fuse inline) to the light green/red stripe and the ground to white/black stripe I should be good to go?

I have already disabled X band and Laser - too many false positives. The Redmond cops seem to use Ka all the time anyway

Look around the edges of the lense for small indents (I recall 4 of them). Use a screwdriver at these locations between the lense and frame, then pry in and slightly down. Once you get one or two out the others will come out easier. There are 4 screws to undo to get the console to drop. Two are located up by the map lights and 2 inside the sunglass holder (behind small flip down covers).

Using T-taps like you have shown here will be fine, but just make sure to count the pins and identify pin 26's light green wire with red stripe and pin 1 is a white wire with black stripe.

VideoNavi,

Many thanks. I followed your instructions and it worked great. 26 and 1 were indeed the right wires on the 2004.

Only challenges I had were that the wires in the harness were very tight and needed a bit of persuasion to open up enough to work on them and the splice connector from the V1 was past its best (having been in an X5 for several years) and couldn't maintain a solid connection to the live wire - I ended up not using it.

I had to strip a section of insulation from both wires and bodge a twisted splice. After ensuring I had a good connection and sealing with electrical tape it was just a case of squeezing all the V1 wiring back in to the space and closing everything up.

I might upgrade to the thinner V1 since the older (thicker) model I have seems to be a little more obvious than in the X5 in terms of closer to the passenger's line of sight, but it's great for now.

Thanks again for the wiring tips - I would never have been able to identify the right wires without your help.

Glad to hear it all worked out good. The handy Electrical Wiring Diagram (EWD) really helps, also new T-taps

As for mounting a V1 it's been discussed in a couple threads, including having a remote display mounted inside rear view mirror.
