Default Audio Cassette Player

Recently whenever I insert a cassette in player it just makes a clicking noise and won't play. Sounds like its spinning but no sound. Anyone have knowledge of this problem?

Have you tried different tapes? That's all I can think of...it may have just worn out.

Default Cassette Tape Player

Thanks for your reply Earl. Yes i Have tried many different tapes. Even a couple of brand new ones. As soon as I insert them they just make a clicking noise. Almost like a head cleaning tape . The kind that you saturate the 5 little dust mop doohickies with head cleaner, which , by the way, I have done also.

I have the same problem with my 93. When I put a tap it the display reads "Tape" but then switches back over to the radio. Guess it is just broken.

Unfortunately electronics break from time to time. Don't worry. You now have a great excuse to buy a nice aftermarket deck .

Default Cassette Player

I refuse to give up and buy a new player. Either pay through nose at Lexus or run into complications and reduce resale value etc. by installing after market.. it must be fixable. after all, there must be 50 million cassette players in existence. Someone must know a fix (i.e. a capstan or pinch roller, etc.?) I guess I'll pull system out and get a good look at inside.
