The Mighty Lifts from Autozone did that too on my 90 but not on my 95 . Maybe its a gen 1 thing.

I finally switched from the Mighty Lift struts awhile ago. It was bowing the hood, even with only 1 installed. Got the replacements from an Ebay seller and hood works corrctly now with no problems at all.

Will have to go back and look thru my receipts, as I replaced mine well over a year ago. Will see if I can find.

i've been using a vise grip for years how much? i think about $20- just open hood and grip shaft part of shock and it acts like a stop PERFECT. Use the stimulus on something else

i found the ebay store of the seller named onlinewholesaleparts
is the direct link for the hood shocks that people are saying work just like oem and are not bending their hoods.

Less than $40 shipped

ordering now.

I actually have some hydraulic lifts...

How strong are the Autozone ones? I weigh about 175 and if I grab 2 of them they can hold me up but barely. It would be nice to save money and use the ones I have but I'm concerned they're too strong and may bend my hood. Is that way too strong?

If it is then I would like to go the Autozone route, again concerned about the bent hood though. It seams that 96 and up hoods are heavier or stronger than earlier ones? I have a 98.

Thanks

I bought mine off ebay. I think I paid $30. This was about a year-and-a-half ago. They work perfect.
