Interested in LS400
Hi,
I have a 91 Nissan Maxima with about 270K miles. Now it is time to move on since the maintenance expenses are too exhorbitant.
I want a decent car with similar power; I often turn to look at LS400's, and would love to own one. First, i would love to know the difference between all the models: IS, GS, LS.....
Second, I live in Baltimore area; do you know of any realiable second dealers.
How much should I expect to pay for 92-95 models - any reliability problems to expect ?
I would need to finance this car, since I don't have the necessary money to pay right now - I should be able to handle monthly payments of between 200-300/month, and was thinking of a used model.
all the best - Noela

Noela,
Welcome to ClubLexus!
The LS is the largest and most luxurious model in the Lexus lineup. I'd suggest that you surf a bit on the Lexus website and on ClubLexus to learn about the other models if you're also interested in them.
http://www.lexus.com Keep in mind the models you listed sometimes didn't exist (IS for example) in the timeframes you're targeting. From 92 - 95 I believe Lexus has the LS400, SC300/400, GS300 and ES300.
www.kbb.com and edmunds.com can give you an idea of cost for each of these models for the various years for your location.

The V-6 Maxima is a tough car to follow as far as what it offers for the $$ and some of the after-market support.
Each of the Lexus models are distinct for what they offer, so yes, you'll want to decide what characteristics you'll want in a car. I'd suggest a visit to your local Lexus dealer for test drives. Unlike other dealerships I have not felt pushed into buying on the spot. YMMV.
