And for the story...

I'll be respectful of everyone - and their beliefs - on here, so I'll try to be as short as I can.

---
I was in my office Tuesday of last week when I realized that my birthday was coming up in a few weeks. I am a Christian, and I simply asked God to bless me with a low mileage LS400. I've been wanting one since college.

I hop online and go straight to Craigslist and the ad is the first one up on the search. It didn't have too much info but the miles were super low. The photos showed the car was taken care of, and it was enough for me to call.

I call. No answer. I text, and I get a response in the evening. I ask the normal questions, and everything seems good. We schedule to meet Saturday because the owner was busy during the weekdays and he wasn't available to show it. Thursday night rolls around and the owner tells me that someone is coming to see the LS400 and if I wanted to see it first. I can't. In my head I was like "I thought you couldn't show it during the weekday!" Other buyer sees it and cannot buy it on the spot. The buyer said he'll be receiving an insurance check the following week, but that he'll pay full price. Owner calls me and says it's still available to be seen Saturday. I exhale.

Friday night, I call to make sure we are good to go. He asks what I do for a living. I ask what he does for a living. We have commonalities. He survived the Vietnam War. Escaped with his twin brother on a 6ft foot boat across the Taiwan Sea. 3 days and 3 nights at sea. Over 50% of people who tried to escape that route died at sea. We begin to talk about God. We talk about purpose. We talk about blessing. I reveal that my mother was sold by her father in Burma because his tobacco farm went under during the drought. She came to America at 7 years old. Never seen her biological family ever since.

Saturday comes around. I see it, inspect it, and offer my price. He says "You have a good heart, I'll tell you what...give me a ridiculous price and I'll talk to my wife, and we'll see what happens." I say $1000. He walks over to his wife and about 20 seconds later he comes back and says "It's yours."

The end.

Wow... 'a story' to go with a great car. Congratulations. Never hurts to bond with the seller, but that's pretty awesome. Thanks for sharing.
Sounds like it was meant to happen. He didn't need the money and had a good heart. Sounds like a good match.
Congrats and welcome to the club and enjoy the new ride....though you might be looking to get a job further away so you can enjoy it more every day.

@ CELSI0R, sorry for the super late reply with the leather tag pics. I was cleaning the and conditioning the leather today and shot these pics:

FYI - The extra pages were in different languages. Just decided to take pic of the English page.

No worries, JALS400. I hope I did not rush you.

Thank you very much for the photos. This is very cool to see!

By the way, that is also quite the story! It might be nice to keep in touch with the previous owner every once in a while.
