Guys, thought I would post a couple pictures of the 1995-2000 LS400 brakes. These are essentially the SAME front brakes as on the 1993-1998 Supra Twin Turbo (rotors are just slightly smaller (2 tenths of an inch) to allow wheel clearance.

The stock front brakes are 12.4" vented rotors with huge 4 piston calipers.

The rear brakes are also pretty nice. 12.2" vented rotors with single piston calipers. None of the other Lexus sedans have vented rear disks and these are the largest.

If I interpret this, the possibility to fit a big brake kit from the 4'th gen Supra is possible? I'd called Toysport about other parts interchangeability but few have experimented with the LS so far. Any word about wheel off-set?

The swapping/interchanging of parts from one model Toyota to another has been fascinating. At least as far as what is been done with the first and second gen Celicas.

Also the any 95-2000 LS400 should be a viable donor car for a big brake upgrade on 90-94 LS400s and SC300/400s. You could even use the stock 95-2000 wheels. None of this has been confirmed but it does seem highly likely.

anyone know of any lexus graveyards? i feel like digging and even though my city has alot of lex's, there are none gracing any of the junkyards. I hate the brakes on my 1990, and I would kill for some BIG brakes from a newer model ( i have 18 inch wheels so im good on clearance).

This may be a question to run in the Toymods forum. There is a surprising amount of interchangeability among/between various Toyota's. However it takes time and money to find parts to measure and put on the car. Not to mention if this is your daily driver. I have a strong suspicion that GS parts will also work and there are plenty of hi-po upgrades available.

Next month when I install the springs, I'll see what differences there are for strut cartridges. The GS weighs about 300 less than the LS but that is minimal. The GS300/400/430 pretty much use the same cartridge. <shrug>

In the end it will likely come down to measuring and swapping to learn.

most likely yes, you will need the master cylinder from the newer donor car.

Im not sure if there is a difference in size or in the lines that the old master cylinder will probably not have enough pressure to clamp on the bigger calipers of the newer car. Everytime we swap brakes between a Civic and a Type R we always get the bigger master cylinder of the Integra in place of the Civic. We've also found out that swapping the NSX caliper in a Civic can get away with using the Integra master cylinder as well.

But as far as LS400's master cylinders I could be wrong and the bigger brakes from the newer car may work or you probably have to switch out to the newer master cylinders.

If I calculated that right that is a big brake upgrade for the 90-94 LS for about $480 probably plus shipping too. Not bad huh.

Can you post some more pics of the LS400 4-calipers? And do you have any information like size and weight?

I don't think these are the same calipers as the Supra calipers, but they look nice!
