Unhappy Official 2004 LS430 pics (& Japanese version specs if you can read Japanese)

Personally ... I'm a bit disappointed. Hopefully it looks better in person.

hmm, whats that in place of our good ol cassette deck slot, and do i see a dolby digital and DTS logo on near the volume controls??

http://www.toyota.co.jp/Showroom/All.../int01_svg.jpg

IN that pic i think i see a DTS logo on the left side of the audio face plate next to the celsior sign, dvd entertainment in the next ls430? or i might be todtally wrong.

Your right what is that Slot? It is thinner and wider than out casset slot. Could it be MD Minidisc??

You're not wrong at all.
It's an in-dash 6-disc DVD/VCD/CD changer with TV-tuner as described at the bottom of this page:

http://www.toyota.co.jp/Showroom/All...avi/index.html

It'll sound so much better with the built-in DTS decoder optimized for this car than an aftermarket solution that has to rely on an FM modulator.

In place of the cassette slot it's the optional MD player in the picture BTW.

Again all these most likely won't make it to the US market.

Wow...didn't notice it until you mentioned.
Wonder how much that improves the acceleration and fuel economy...

It's at the bottom of the spec page showing gear ratios:
http://www.toyota.co.jp/Showroom/All...pec/sheet.html

But there doesn't seem to be shift buttons on the steering wheel like the GS. Only at the stick.

I noticed the + / - on the shiftgate, too. I prefer systems with the front/back rocking of the lever (like the Audi and the Acura), to the buttons on the steering wheel like the GS and IS.

If the US models have it, you can count on the Japanese models to have it, if not more.

The 04 looks good. But the 03 won't look bad when comparing to it. They look very similiar. The 04 bumper has some "aftermarket" feel.

im glad my mom didnt buy a 03 LS the 04 looks nice as far as performance like the 6 speed and such. there arent very many exterior changes. just a little massaging is all i see. bringing out the dual exaust is another nice touch.

looks very similar to the Q45 no? at least in the head lights. the progectors look good too
