Lightbulb A/C Filter

anyone know how to get to the a/c filter in the glove box of a 99 LS 400? I have no clue, and i am sure by now that it has to be pretty nasty...

thanks,

peter

In my 96 this is how it works...

Open glove box - on back of the box there is a small panel that sits in a slot - remove without snapping in half - behind it you will see a plastic cover / door with two clips on the bottom - depress the clips and hinge the door upward removing the door from the two top slots - inside you will see a plastic tray which is lifted up into the area above - gently pull the from tab of the tray down and then slide out like a drawer.. change rotten crappy filter and reassemble....

Now I should qualify this by saying that my car is actually a 96 Celsior and is Right hand drive but I believe yours should be the exact same only in reverse....

yup just like higuma said, and i have a 1997 ls 400. i called my local dealer to buy one and they wanted $68. so i called up carson toyota, and bought one for $33. i dont think my ac filter was EVER changed cus it was soooooooooooooo dirty, filled with feathers, twigs, foilage, dirt and dust. but the funny thing is that i really didnt feel any difference installing the new filter, oh well, at least iam breathing clean air now

BTW.... my Japanese owners manual suggests cleaning the filter periodically with low pressure air.......

Default Cabin Filter

Just took out my 94 LS 400 , 142,000 accumulated miles, cabin filter & replaced it with
part # 88880-50010 from Carson Toyota for $27.00.

Seems to blow a little more volume ( it is tough to combat 105 heat in Texas!!) & mine was filthy!!!

nothing to it, instructions are provided with the Denso filter.
