Default Footwell lighting

Driver and passenger side footwell lighting consists of individual T-1 3/4 incandescent lamps nestled into black plastic dash undercovers.

As attached images depict, black plastic is a poor reflector of light(in fact it absorbs light), so to improve reflectivity, I have applied Nashua brand high temperature outdoor rated foil with high surface energy pressure sensitive adhesive.

The perceived light output was discernibly improved Driver's side undercover imaged under high intensity halogen lighting...the black plastic just soaks up the light...poor reflectivity....
A paper template is created using cash register taoe
Reflecting Aluminum tape markedly increases reflectivity of the surface area of light bulb pocket
Nashua brand high temperature outdoor rated aluminum foil tape with high surface energy pressure sensitive adhesive...
Backside of passenger side undercover depicting lense snap in tabs...lightly compress the tabs and the lense easily pops out. Similar on the driver's side. DO NOTattempt this from the frontside.
Before application of reflecting foil tape in light pocket...

Also...mind the plastic tabs closest to the firewall when extracting the passenger side undercover, or you will shear them off..

Aluminum tape applied to light pocket of passenger side footwell side. ..huge improvement in reflectivity.

I can honestly say I've never even thought to do such a thing on any vehicle and I find this SUPER cool. Any before/after pictures of light?

Illumination is improved and not diminished..

This camera phone does a poor job of discerning light...and adjusts exposure according to light...

Check out my posting for trunk light.

I imagine replacing the bulb with a small LED would be a great addition as well. Eventually, I plan to change all the bulbs in my LS to LED.

I did LEDs about 9-10 years ago, not a single one has gone out yet

Better light output than a halogen, even with the foil tape mod.

great share and idea, and I've gone LED as well with great results. it was difficult to find the small bulb LED equivalent back in the day but should be easily available today.
