Default LS400 Manual... Crank but no spark no fuel!?!?(uk)

Hi Guys my Uk LS400 unfinished drift car will not start.

i bought it off a friend that due to illness he has sold all his toys, its 90% through its manual swap running a BMW gearbox and clutch.

before i carry on with the project i just want to hear her running....

so its had the auto box plug bridge done to allow the car to crank.
also a second bridge to display neutral on the dash

it has an uprated fuel pump thats hard wired to a switch so fuel pump is running..

but when i crank i get no spark and no fuel....

ive checked the ecu and it powers up 5v on position 1 12V position 2.

What should i now check!? im at a loss electrics are not my thing,
any help will be greatly appreciated thanks Guys
Ben

check the codes per http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/intro/codereading.html

We can't really advise without more detailed information about how the car was wired. My guess is that the ECU isn't getting some signals it needs.

tell us what exact ECU you are running. also what year is your motor? that helps us narrow down to the right components.

Like Puredifter says either not getting or not sending signal. Cam and crank sensors are big signal points for spark and injector signals.

Maybe in some other country a 96 would be pre OBD2, but in the US ALL 1996 cars had to be OBD2, and from what I have read here 1995 is when Lexus did OBD2 on the LS400. So I hope you don't ruin your CAN system trying to jumper like its a 1990.

it has no obd2 port only the circular obd1 one.
i jumped it today Te1 to E1 and it did nothing ....

I checked and the diagnostic port does have voltage going to it when ignition is on so don't understand why I got no codes flashing

non USDM cars don't have OBDII in areas it isn't required. 98-00 have CAN but before that it sticks to OBDI iirc, or some mishmash between I/II.

I've seen people on craigslist call 94's, 95's and 96's before I don't know how they can get that wrong.

il take some photos after work bud appreciate the help!

also going to take the cluster out and check the bulbs as I'm hoping it's just the CEL light that has blown witch is why I can't read the codes.

Model year designations in other countries is more complicated as the year on the title/rego does not necessarily correspond to the vehicles production year. In the US it's based on when the car was produced, in the UK and (possibly) in Japan, it is when the vehicle was sold or registered.

Default Update

hey guys little update

so when i go from position 1 to position 2 on the ignition the dash does not light up just some of the lights do this is what it looks like in position 2

as well as the dial pods not lighting up neither does the EML witch is obviously a big problem.

So as you know i bought the car off a co worker he hasnt worked on the car for around 10 months due to illness.
he did have it running but since started gutting the car due to it being a drift car.

he has removed aircon idle control valve is blanked off. and basically started removing wiring thats not needed only wanted it wired as simple as possible...
he thought the wiring was done and that i only need to wire in the fuel pump.... this has not been the case, and he assumes there must be an earth disconnected or somthing. and that i should just go through the wiring Guide "How to wire up a 1uz-fe By Nigel Wade"

whilst messing around with the car today (mainly scratching my head)
i found something interesting out that hopefully one of you guys can explain
in stead of earthing out TE1 because i already know that does nothing i decided to earth out the W pin witch is the cable for the EML light, this is what happened

so not only does my EML now come on but my dash lights up

so i assume the ecu gives W pin a voltage and me earthing it out just illuminates the light, that being said why the hell do my clocks now work haha.
as soon as i pull the earth the clocks go out.

this is the ECU in my car

hopfully i can get thiss sorted soon so i can carry on with the project

thanks Guy

sounds like the wiring was mickey moused. You'll have to go through the harness to find the break. happy hunting, i'd hire an auto electrician if i was short on time.
