I had a similar problem but it went away. As I understand the Check VSC pops up when you'r e battery is low but it may have to do also with the Vehicle Skid Control. There are ECU's that control wheel speed in the event of a skid from what I found on the internet; someone with more experience can correct me if I'm wrong. I would Google Check VSC LS400 and see what pops up.

You need to check alternator. If the charging system is not working properly this error message may come on, as foretold by the owner's manual.

If this came on right after you changed brake pads it's possible that the wheel speed sensor (abs sensor) was damaged. Do you have any check engine lights?

The VSC reset procedure is the 2000 LS400 owners manual. It does not involve jumping connector terminals like the procedure for the LS430. I had to follow this procedure a number of times after disconnecting the battery in the 2000 LS400 that I drove for 11 years.

I no longer have the owners manual since I sold the 2000 LS400 in 2014 but I posted a scanned page of the instructions in 2008 in the following thread: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls-...ml#post3823050

Also, you do NOT use the jumping pin method to read OBDII codes in 95+ LS400s..

You need to check your alternator. The first thing to start coming on when you've got low power, not enough juice provided by your alternator is the VSC light.
With the car running make sure you're battery is showing close to 14 volts... I suspect you've got a bad alternator.
If the Power Steering pump is leaking it will most definitely kill the alternator. This is a known problem on these cars.

Based on your description I'd say it's the alternator... at least, that's where I would start.
