Question Value of a 1991 LS400 with only 68k miles on it

Howdy! I've never popped into this area before. My main Lexus interest has been my 1997 LX450 that I dump way too much time and money into for overlanding with the family.

But I have a question for all you LS400 experts:

What kind of value is there in a 1991 LS400 with only about 68k miles. One owner. Always garage. Never wrecked. Cared for by Lexus of Seattle always.

My grandmother is the owner and knows it's something special, but she can not drive it any more due to a sudden eye problem.

Ideas on value?

What is the condition of the car? Always garaged? Paint fading? When was the timing belt changed?

There is a 1990 listed with 66,000 miles that is $9900. NADA says high retail is $8,000. Depending on condition/timing belt your grandmother's car should be in that range.

If if you could post some pictures that might help also.

Maybe she'll hook you up with a deal to 'keep it in the family'. That's the card I played on my aunt when I bought her single owner LS. Didn't get a 'steal' but worked her down quite a bit.

Thanks for the input so far! We were thinking in the $8,000 range considering how desirable these cars have become. This one is pretty much perfect.

She did actually transfer it to me, but mostly to make it easier to sell. As much as I'd love to keep it, it'd be a 5th car for my family. No room - and we're rather attached to our other vehicles too. Besides, grandma could use the money. ;-)

I would be interested if its flawless and not black or white, and has all the options. So what options does it have?
And its close enough to look at I think. You said seattle ?

Thanks again, guys! I've been researching more on eBay - looks like $6500-$10000 is the actual value for the first generation LS400 with so few miles.

I actually need to go and get the car and check it out thoroughly. Being car guys, our definition of flawless may be different than granny's definition - but I suspect it is flawless. It is Diamond White Pearl. It has always been garaged. I don't know what all the options offered in 1990 were, so I'll look those up too. What I do know is that it has the gold badging, air suspension, phone, Nakamichi system with a sub (which sounds amazing! I was surprised...) It's wheels aren't stock as she wanted something "sportier" - they look decent and are only 15 or 16s. Windows are dark, but that may be stock. Interior is gray leather and wood.

Sounds good except for color, the price will come down unless the original wheels are included. Tinting no thanks the original window stickers are gone then.
Any glass been replaced? Flawless to me is zero paint and body defects as well as interior defects all reasonable requests for a top dollar old car.
Ebay maybe the only place to get top dollar, on craigslist you'll be lucky to get 5K. I'd consider a black or white one but has to be top condition all factory stock zero modifications. The phone is a dealer mod and the only acceptable mod.
Options ?
Trac
Heated seats
Fog lights
Driver memory
Power extend steering wheel
Power head rests
Power shoulder strap height
Floor mats
Moon roof
Leather seats
Gold package
CD
Nakamichi sound system
There maybe something I'm missing.
Power locks, power windows, automatic transmission, power mirrors, power seats all standard equipment. If no power steering wheel extend its got a locking lever, and you release it and pull out the steering wheel by hand. If it has driver memory it has all the seat and steering and seat belt options.
So whats it got? Careful checking it out only nice rubber pads on the floor jack not to damage stuff. Don't scratch paint removing the airfilter etc.

Thanks for the list!

I'm positive it has everything you mentioned. I do plan to find out if she has the original wheels somewhere. I'll check it out thoroughly when I can. Posting here was to get an idea and you fine forumers have done just that. I'll likely have it detailed (if it needs it) and up for sale in a month or two - probably the soonest I can get to it. For now, it'll get a short drive once a week and a warm garage to live in.

Thanks!

.
yeah that's never ever going to happen. you gotta look at completed listings, not buy it now prices or listed prices. I would just keep it man. not many nice ones left. that doesn't make them worth a pile of cash, but still rare.

When the time comes I'd like to see it. But If it does not have original glass and the appropriate window stickers and only factory tint and zero body defects. There is no need for me to look at it if the price is to the moon. I could have got a 150k mile one in real good shape for 3900 or so, it did not meet my specs above. And its way better to let an affection ado look at it before messing something up and spending the $ to do it. A simple deal like trying to add some brake fluid and spilling a bit, on any place on the car and not washing immediately is a turn off. A detailer ? Make sure its not some new trainee kid. I'm just saying all this because I've seen lots of messed up junk.
