Default a/c service valve

Hey its been a long while since i last posted but college seems to take all your time and money. Right now the problem is that i had nearly everything (drier, expansion valve, sun sensor, climate control unti inside the car, compressor, freon) all replaced in september. It worked great, but now there is a leak and is from the service valve. THe dealer is quoting $1300 to fix it. I've already put a lot more than that into fixing the a/c so i would like to keep any further spending to a real mininium. Does anyone know anything about this service valve. ie. any place that would sell it cheap and/or is it a possible DIY or if you have any great/fair priced mechanics in the hampton roads area of virginia. Thanks.

Edited b/c for some reason i wrote safety valve instead of service valve. sorry for the mix up
