I went to a local yard on Monday to try to pick up a few parts - this is a big yard, and they don't have any LS400s of any year...too old to stock, they claimed. I was surprised.

Here is a high mileage gem that they're only asking $1300 for...1998, 337k miles,
clean title, cold ac, runs like new, no mechanical issues, the car is at a 100%.
$1300 price is negotiable
Looks pretty clean for that many miles. Easy to see the the drivers seat has been recovered.

Here in Japan, cars older than 13 years are quite rare because of the increased 2 different taxes. Old cars are crushed or exported. Many Gen3 Celsiors similar to LS430 are now in that situation. This simply means that you can buy those inexpensively. The other day, a local shop owner sold a Gen 2.5 Celsior (2000 model) receiving only $300 from a foreign exporter.

It's likely all to fuel the economy. The more cars purchased, the more income.
I sometimes question how the population plays a part in these taxes as well, since it is very large (other than the fact that they are the ones who purchase cars).

its very expensive to own a car, every 2years it is subjected to a roadworthy inspection, plus registration/road tax every year. Plus normal insurance and parking! Very few people in city areas have parking at there house, if you dont then you have to pay for it, i was paying around ¥8000/month (around $100) out in the suburbs for a unsecure open carpark. If you want a lockup garage they where ¥15000/month. The closer to the city you get the more expensive it is. So if your having to pay thousands of dollars a year just to own a car, your unlikely to do it with a older junker.

Rob your link is no good, nothing there? I'd love blue on blue, too many white on cream, and black on what ever.
Theres a black on cream locally but they changed the windshield, non lexus of course.
