How to program a key without master 97LS
I lost my only key to my car and got a replacement key at the dealership. I do not have any master keys so the programming post in the FAQ doesn't help. Is there anyway to pair my key to the car without having to tow it to the dealership and have them do it for me? They told me I need to reflash the ECU or get a new ECU or bring the car in to have them do it.
Thanks in advanced.

My theory: Inquire about having a master key cut with out the transponder chip. Then with the valet key in proximity of the receiver you can program succeeding master keys. You'll have to get multiple keys cut but this is less than having the car towed and ECU flashed. The valet key lacks the ridge at the tip so a locksmith that is familiar with this could fudge that ridge when cutting the key. Master key on left valet on right.

There is no way for you to do this at home. Without the master key you will need to either send your ECU and a new master key into an online specialist, or take your car to a dealer.
A valet key if you had one would allow you to drive the car, but as you don't have one you are out of luck.
Most locksmiths won't be able to help though you can try. A lost master on this vehicle requires a factory style scan tool to program. The aftermarket mongoose type don't have access to the immobilizer settings most of the time.
