Help! 99 LS 400 will not start
I've owned car since 2007 (bought it with 67k miles on it) and it's been a great car (well maintained and has 308k miles on it now). Here lately, I've been having some issues that have perplexed my mechanic.
1. The car started sputtering some while driving and eventually cut off while driving: replaced fuel pump and fuel pump relay.
2. I drove the car for a few weeks and the car started sputtering again while driving as if it wasn't getting gas. It died while driving and wouldn't restart. Check engine light wasn't on but mechanic found a code when he checked it out: replaced the throttle position sensor.
3.I drove the car for another 2-3 weeks and pulled in the driveway one morning and car wouldn't start a few minutes later when I got back in. Check engine light wasn't on: replaced crankshaft sensor.
Car ran fine for another week until yesterday. Got in car to go to work and car wouldn't start again. It has turned over in each situation but will not start. The check engine light is not on and the car runs perfectly when running. What could be causing this intermittent starting problem?

As it sets is a great time to hook up a good scan tool, no not a code reader, a scan tool, it will see what signals are not being out put and preventing it from starting.
A good scan tool starts at $1000ish and goes up from there. That will prevent all the guess its this or that stuff. I suppose Toyota tech stream would be the best thing to use.
