1994 LS.......Wheel issue.....help!?
I want to replace my factory wheels. The "wheel guy" at Wal Mart said my car would be better off with 18" wheels......he said my model did not fit 16" aftermarket wheels because of the calipers etc. etc.....has anyone heard of this problem before? I really wanna replace my wheels but dont wanna sacrifice PERFORMANCE!

I have never heard of such a thing before.. If the car has 16" OEM rims, there should be 16" rims that will fit the car. The Walmart employee may just prefer 18" wheels or may not have the right fitting 16" rims in stock (who knows).
To find rims, try TireRack.com. You can preview the rims on your car there; I have already preset the vehicle in the link to a 1994 LS 400 for you. However, you should select the Diameter as 16 (O.E. Diameter) on the left-hand side to limit your results to 16" rims.
Also, if you have Walmart put the rims and tires on, make sure you check the torque and re-torque them to spec, if needed. They over torqued my relative's wheels once, which lead to us replacing the rotors from warping.

Same year here also need wheels.
Guesstimate on much do you need to spend on a '16 wheel to get good quality?

These are the specs you need for the best fit and performance I think....16x7.....42mm, 20lbs......I found some Focal F13s for $110 per.....expect to pay at least $85+ for a decent wheel

They have the bigger 4pot brakes? You need wheels quite big brake clearance. Imo, aftermarket wheels in standard sizes look kinda tacky. Id rather stay with the original, or a later model factory wheel.
really depends on what you call 'performance' i like my 18" wheels on my first gen. Previous owner had 19" wheels on it.

I just bought had to buy 4 new tires recently, so wanted to stay with the 16's.
I thought some aftermarket 16's would help update the look.
But "tacky" ain't good for anybody.

Driver School Candidate
I came across a beautiful beige metallic '95 LS400 Tuesday,7-27-16 in Macon,GA.I am interested in buying it,but the owner says the rear axle has a problem with a bracket holding it in place.The left rear wheel does some slight jerking motion when put in gear to drive.But after slowly taking off,it does ok but you have to be careful with the gas.Overall,after close inspection the car looks pretty decent.A slight tear in the driver seat leather but the other seats are not bad.It has about 267K miles on it but it ran good and has good brakes.I took it for a short test drive and it wasn't bad.
I'm wondering about what the repair cost will be to get another bracket/bushing to hold the rear axle in place if that's what's wrong.I'm going to try and get the car for around $1,200 to $1,400.But,I'm thinking it could be a costly repair for the rear end.Also,the driver window regulator will need repair.And the A/C may need servicing.The paint job is beautiful.It has been repainted so it may have been in a wreck.If so,I will not offer the stated amount but even less.
I'll call the dealership and get a history report on it after I get the VIN.Does anyone think this is a worth while endeavor?The guy was asking a minimum of $1,800,but there is no way I'll give that much for it.I think the best thing to do is have my mechanic inspect the rear end.The mechanic I use is very trustworthy and is one of the best around.Would anyone like to reply?Thanks
