Default Need help - engine stalling

While out of town, my 1999 LS 400 (116K miles) started missing ("bumps"), then engine died. Got to a shop and mech said # 7 cyl coil was bad. Replaced the coil the after I got home, but the missing and engine failure recurred . OBD II scan shows no problems. Engine will keep running if ~ 2,000 RPM maintained, but missing continues. Can't drive to dealer (too far and dangerous). Live in very small town with one repair shop.

What does "engine failure" mean to you?

The engine stops running. It can be re-started and will run if RPMs are kept around 2,000 or more. After it isn't driven for a week or so, it runs normally for 4-7 miles, then starts missing and then dying as before.

MAF will show up perfectly on a scan. If the scan tool your using didn't cost close to $1000.00 or more then of course you won't see anything. So your best bet is find someone that has a good bidirectional scan tool.
