maybe a typo/error? 58,000 miles in only one year seems a bit of a stretch (maybe should be 5,800??)... in 2002 it logged about 8k/yr mileage which seems more like it...

No.

Adding in the cost of the paint & body work it needs, like I mentioned earlier, it's bumping up against LS 430 prices. Plan to drive one or 2 of those before I circle back on this one.

Likely a smart move. Way over priced, and I'm sure I mentioned the cost of paint etc.

Seller dropped the price to $6,500 ... from $8,000 11 days ago.

Default I finally drove it...

The car drives great, and its super clean inside and under the hood, but since I was last in contact with the seller, he replaced the stock exhaust after the Y-pipe with a stainless steel system that has just 2 loud mufflers.

I like sidepiped big block Corvettes, but for my wife, loud doesn't work, and until you got up to cruising speed it was annoying inside.

Anyways, every wheel has curb rash, and as discussed earlier in this thread, the bumpers are needing paint and some seemingly very minor body work.

His bottom line is $6500.

Seriously considering the LS430's, especially the '04-'06's, but if he comes down to $6K, I think I'd go with this instead and get some new aftermarket wheels and use the curbed wheels for the 4 snows I'd put on it.

Keep in mind that the 04-06 430's have a sealed transmission, which is kind of a PITA for changing the fluid. Which also means they're much less likely to have had timely fluid changes over the years.

There are lots and lots of 98's and 99's in better shape and cheaper.

If there are nationwide that's one thing.

But I've looked for 2+ years in the Buffalo-Rochester area and the only other nice one was back in Marck 2014 there was a very clean beige example 78K mile 2000 for $10900.

Shipping is cheaper than body work.

Go south young man. It's worth the trip to get a car that hasn't seen 15 years of winter road salt.

Certainly that is true sometimes. And our last 2 cars I bought that way.

I personally would much rather deal with this (attached), which is by far the worst of the cosmetic issues...over buying a car a sizable distance away. A lot of unknowns factored into the buying equation equal$$ higher risk from my perspective.

Carfax shows what owner told me; that it spent all but 2 winters down south. The 2 winters on the road up north were spent in theBrooklyn, NY area. IIRC they don't salt there.

Anyways, a long time Lexus dealer tech I know has his own shop as well, and he can thrown it up on his lift in a couple of weeks when he gets back in town.

Pics of the underneath with new exhaust.

It seems with an ipad I can only attach 1 pic at a time.

(Is there a workaround?)
