brake lights don't work need advice asap
Hey what's up guys thanks for clicking on my thread and if you can thanks for sharing advice about my brake light issue.
My running lights are fine but when I press on the brakes they don't light up at all. I need the advice asap because I'm currently in the middle of my trip driving from Cali to Georgia.
96 Ls400 of that info helps.

Have you checked the tail/brake lights failure sensor in the trunk?
I have seen the solder cracks at current sensing registers or the connector.

Agree, I think this problem is worth a short emergency stop in a shop. If the shop is any good at all, if you tell them you are from out of town, they will put you to the head of the line.

i would lean towards this as well since all brake lights are not working. it is highly unlikely that all 6 plus the high mount (3rd brake) lights would all go bad at once. check your brake pedal switch first.
second is to check the tail light sensor module as yamae mentioned. it is located in a red box behind the trunk liner. you can get to it without removing the liner by sticking your hand through the trunk hinge hole, though it will be a blind reach.
here is a picture of it without the liner, marked with an asterisk.
you will need to get it out and examine it for cold solder joint cracks. what i would do first before removal is to check if it's tightly connected then check if the brake lights work.
