Default 27mpg, am I doing it right?

So I haven't posted in a long time, I figure I post about something I been battling with this car aside from building it to where I want it to be. I been battling with getting the best fuel economy as possible out of this car. I think I'm doing alright.

Manufacturer MPG: 19 city / 25 highway / 22 combined.

Currently: 27.1mpg.

I use it as my work truck, hauling roughly 250lbs in cabling and ladder equipment. It's lowered with some semi-aggressive tires. I drive her as far as Chula Vista up to Santa Clarita.

NGK Double Platinums, NGK Ignition wires, SS 2.25" piping with resonators dropped. Amsoil 5w-30 w/ 25K mile filter, currently at 9000 miles on oil change. Otherwise stock with 199,642 miles on the odo.

I started logging my miles for business via TripLog and so far it is saying my fuel economy is at a very modest 27mpg since Sunday with a bit over 500 miles put in so far.

When I cruise steadily on the freeway at 60mph I get 30mpg, and I have a CEL on.

hmm not bad for a pre-98 car! when my 97 was stock, i took a trip from LA to SF averaging close to 27mpg if i recall correctly. these cars really do shine on the highway.

what kind of petrol do you use?

I rarely see over 20mpg but it's about a 50/50 mix of city/hwy. You're either lucky or it might be running lean (weak o2 sensors?).

Good job

Ours will just nudge 26 MPG more like 25.7 these days. The trip counter isn't accurate with the 245/40-18's so I use the GPS data.

Yes. You're pretty much not going to see any better results. 😃 27mpg is beautiful.

My 1995 averages 26 highway with the cruise and AC on - my trips are around 40 miles on average.
Personal best with this car was on a 120 mile trip to Chicago: 29.1mpg with windows up, AC off, some weekend luggage, and 1 passenger.

My recent longest haul was 320 miles with 4 SC430 wheels and tires in the trunk. 28.1mpg. Amazing

91 Costco fuel haha. Oddly, if I use Shell, Chevron, Mobil 1 or 76... With the amounts of ethanol they dump into the fuel, I get worse fuel economy.

I'm an authorized dealer, managed to cross reference a 25k oil filter.

Yeah, I just edit it after each trip to double check. I was hoping my BAFX OBDII scanner would be able to read out the odometer, however it does not...
