90 LS400 - Odometer broke, any way to get real mileage?
Hi all, just got a question. It looks like the odometer for my 1990 LS400 broke awhile back - apparently I've been driving around with it broken but I don't know how many miles I put on it before I realized this.
It looks like the odometer is separate from the instrument cluster. Is there some way to get the real mileage off of the instrument cluster, or is it stored in the ECU, or is that mechanical odometer considered part of the "cluster" and therefore I've been missing out on several miles? Will I have to "guesstimate" the mileage once I get the odometer fixed and corrected?

not really! one thing you can do is log milage via the trip OD. just don't reset it. I had the same problem in my 90. kinda stopped caring when it aged tho. if its running fine who cares? its 26 years old.

I found it interesting that my local registration office, didn't really care if I put down the real mileage when I registered(1996) it last July right after I bought it. At the time I wasn't sure what the real mileage was, and they said no problem, with a 20 year old car- it doesn't matter all that much.
