Default my first 1998 ls400

whats up, just got my first ls400 last month with 157k on the odometer. I have a few questions on here that i tried to search for on the forum but really couldnt find a straight answer.

With it having 157k miles it runs like a dream. drives fine n all. i bought the car with out knowing any service history. I have no idea when the timing belt was done or anything. I looked at the vin history on the lexus website but everything stopped after 67k miles. Is it a good idea to change timing belt right now? or can i remove the timing belt covers to check for wear? the serpentine belt looks to be in newish condition. not sure what else to look for or change with it having 157k i would be guessing itll be done with the amount of miles it has but then again who knows

i also looked under the car and looks like to be leaking a little bit of oil around the transmission. maybe the pan gasket? also to change the fluid on this car do i have to drop the pan ? or is there a drain screw. havent really looked for the screw while under the car so thats why i ask.

now my last question.. my Nakamichi NON nav radio some times like to cut off sound on the right side of the car at random times then work again randomly. is there a way to fix the factory amp to stop this? was looking at installing a aftermarket head unit but kept reading its a real pain in the *** for it to work properly and have all speakers but no sub work and sound clear....

i have a 1998 as well.

service manual calls for timing belt/wp job every 90k miles.

you don't have to drop the pan to change the tranny fluid. there is a drain plug on the transmission pan. it drains ~2 quarts of transmission fluid at a time

sometimes as you remove "things" from the engine you will find a sticker in a protected place about TB/WP change (I did) also on ATF, drain the 2 ATF qts every oil change, and after about 5 or 6 oil changes, your tranny should be ok.. (worked for me)

+1 to the above.

Oil or a reddish fluid? On ours the valve cover gasket is leaking a bit so that location is the rear portion of the motor that migrates down almost where the A/C drips water. Also have an O-ring on the dipstick tube that is leaking, that one also drips a bit further back but mid-left of the oil pan.
