Default Aftermarket Alarm vs. stock alarm

Just curious to know how many people have changed up the security system in their car? I know back in the day alot of people bought aftermarket alarm systems for their car but nowadays I don't really Think people are buying them anymore.

The factory system covers the basics unless you desire more features. The 97+ with transponder adds ignition immobilizer.

it's pretty difficult to bypass the immobilizer on 97-up cars, especially when doing auto start. i haven't heard of a lot of aftermarket alarm installs on these cars, bc frankly they are hard to steal (unless the thief actually has the keys).

There is an immobilizer on the 90's to 94 also. It doesn't immobilize the ignition though. I see no need for an aftermarket system on a lexus, unless it has something to detect broken windows.

there is no immobilizer on north american '89-96 cars. only 97 and 98-00.

Other markets are different.

I said there was NO ignition immobilizer on 90 to 94. But there is a starter immobilizer on them. All you have to do is look in the owners manual and it tells how to reset and talks about it all. This means the starter will not work to crank the engine when immobilized.

that is part of the anti-theft/alarm, but there is no key-based immobilizer as there is on '97+ cars.

Really Tony? I need to find out what module you used bro, because one of the many issues from when I bought mine was lack of the transponder due to the previous owner "losing the key" and having to have another made. Which the "new" one looks kind of old too, haha...
