I found a car in the junkyard with some nice parts. I got an armrest that isn't all broken and a cupholder assembly with the cover door.











The ashtray doesn't sit all the way down, I think the spring and clasp are not right? Does anyone out there have a working ashtray the can show me a picture of so I can see what is supposed to look like?

That looks right, you may have to push it down. I know they do like click in

I'm thinking the spring isn't right. You can push it down, but it doesn't stay.

Sounds more like the catch. If there were a problem with the spring you wouldn't be able to push it down. Take a look at the latch/catch.
