Low oil pressure light after bump
So I was cruising around and didn't see a little bump in the road and knocked the oil pan real good ( I have a skid plate) as soon as I hit the bump, the low oil light come on. The oil pan and skid plate are still intact, with no leaks. Anyone ever heard of this happening before? I've checked all under the front of the car to no avail, there are leaks under there for sure but no worse then they were before this bump incident. Ps...oil level is good, about 2k on my oil change. Thanks playas

This might be bad, that oil light might either be from a bad sensor or your pan is bent on the bottom that your oil catch tube can't get enough oil because the pan it pressed against it or the catch tube is messed up from the impact. You might have to take out your pan to make sure there isn't anything blocking the tube before it's too late.

I took the pan off last night and besides two quarter sized dents there wasn't anything wrong with it. To my knowledge it's the low oil level light. I guess the next step would be to check the level sensor? Anyone know where that is ok these beasts?

The oil level sensor is atop the upper oil pan on right side. Be sure to replace the gasket if removing. mind the swing-arm.<br/>The oil pressure switch is on the left..at or near the oil filter bracket. The wiring harness side connector shells become extremely brittle with age, so be sure to have replacement connector shells on hand if disconnecting....available from Lexus. (Hint..the old ones are so brittle that I simply use small needle nose to break apart the plastic from around the contacts...

Attached is Lexus parts diagram depicting location of1995 LS400 Oil Level Sensor (89491) and Oil Pressure Switch (83530). Check integrity of both sensors, connector shells and wiring.
