On the first Gen's (at least on my '91), the fogs only come on when the headlights are on. The lenses are clear and the bulbs are yellow. So you can't tell they're yellow fog lights unless they're on. (unless you look really closely of course).

actually there is a yellow secondary lens inside the foglight housing itself. the bulb itself is not yellow. the outer lens is clear that's correct.

Sounds right to me. Thanks for clarifying / correcting. The main thing I meant to convey was that the lights don't look yellow when they're not on.

Lol. Yeah, I know. I test-fitted them last weekend and I'm not sold on the idea yet. It looked different in my mind.

Come to think of it I do have some factory "alpine silver" paint in the garage so...

yours looks good with yellow fogs. i change my mine and flip from yellow halogen to clear LED twice a year or so. never had any luck with those lens paints as they fade over time.
Yup. Few months in and the color is already starting to fade. Gonna install JDM fogs (with yellow reflectors) and yellow HID's this weekend.

After a nearly one month delay due to having to repair one of my new fiberglass fenders, I got the HID fogs installed this weekend. Obviously, this photo is early in the morning. Tried taking pictures last night but it just looked like a really yellow, really bright blur.

Not bad ^^^ but still looks like halogens compared to your headlights. Do you have factory HID like mine? It just always bugged the crap out of me that the stock fogs' light output was so weak so I'm glad to have sorted this out. Now just waiting for the CL lighting experts to show up and say:

1) OE fogs were designed by Lexus engineers so they are perfect
2) fog lights should never be that bright because you will melt a hole in someone's eye
3) enter your own sarcastic remark here_________

Yup factory hid. I was planning on removing the metal housing inside to allow more light but couldn't really figure it out. There are screws that look to be holding it together and 1 is very tight and started to strip so I left it alone. Any tips?

I never removed the inner housing since the pair I replaced are from Japan and have a yellow insert instead of chrome. There are others on the forum who have done it with the US-spec fogs. Just do a search.
