Default $18,000 for a 96??

http://jacksonville.craigslist.org/cto/5354329826.html

Not sure how many miles but looks like a base car? Assume this guy is fishing.

Don't believe it will ever sell at that price.

I mean... it is extremely clean. Looks almost factory new apart from the seat covers... but for being 20 years old.... it's not worth $18,000 unless the car has 3K miles.

You can get a nice LS460 for just a little more than this. I sent an email asking about miles. Will be interesting to see the answer to that. If he is able to sell for that price then does it mean the few remaining low mile/very clean LS400s may be starting to appreciate in price?

There is no LS400 worth more than $10K today, regardless of mileage or condition. Some sellers just need a few months of sitting on the market to come to that realization.

I just ran a carfax on the Vin as I have an unlimited account,

last reported mileage was on 12/09/2015 193,745.

the car has a long list of repairs recently, looks like the guy takes car of the vehicle, most of the repairs seem to be preventive.

07/17/2015:

Oil and filter changed
Water pump replaced
Camshaft seal(s) replaced
Serpentine belt replaced
Timing belt/tensioner/idler checked
Thermostat replaced
Timing belt tensioner/idler replaced

10/14/2015:

Engine/powertrain computer/module replaced

11/11/2015:

Power steering pump replaced

12/09/2015:

Power steering hose(s)/line(s) replaced

Kelly Blue Book private party value is $1,670 for excellent condition, $1,532 for very good.

Even if it only had 3,000 miles it is only valued @ $2,858 in excellent condition.

I wonder if it is typo, and he meant $1,800..

Oh my. Asking $18K for a low-mileage LS400 is sadly misinformed. Asking $18K for a 200K mile LS400 is criminal, with a possible insanity defense.

Maybe he meant 1800 and hit an extra key.

$15K "or best offer". Let's see if they really mean that when the best offer is $3000. It says one owner and it does look very clean, so I bet it was the guy's prize possession, bought new for $50K and he's just not going to let reality intrude on his belief of what it's worth.

I offered him $1,670, or excellent KBB, for it. Let's see what happens.

I pictured you rubbing your hands together and cackling as you wrote that. Sadly, I bet he spent more on the repairs in the last year listed above by mjeds than he'll ever get for the car. As we here all know, you gotta be able to do some of your own wrenching on a 20 year old car or it doesn't make economic sense to maintain it.
