BBS Rims For 1990 LS400? Ideal rim and tire packs?
Hello everyone
No pun intended, but I do not want to reinvent the wheel here.
Any suggestions about where I can obtain a nice set of old school BBS basketweave rims for a 1990 lexus ls400? I would like to go from 15" stock to 16" or possibly 17". I know it is 5 lug pattern with 4.5" spacing, 50mm offset 15" x 6.5"
I would like to paint the centers some sort of grey or possibly gold on a cobalt blue metallic car.
any suggestions for tire size and rims? is something like this still available?
thanks a bunch

Original tire size is 205/65r15. That on a 6.5" wheel gives an overall diameter of 25.5". If you wanted to go up to 16s, you could probably find a 16x7 and put on a 205/60r16 and have a .2" greater diameter.... which is basically null.
As far as offset goes, if you want to keep the original fitment, you'll want to take away roughly 7 mm of offset for every half inch you add. The original 15x6.5 +50 wheel has a backspace of 145mm, while a 16x7 +43 has the exact same backspacing. And a 16x7.5 +36 still has the same backspacing. This will move the wheel outward slightly every time, giving you more of a lip or more of a concave depending on what kind of wheel you get, but the LS' have huge wheel wells. You should be able to fit nearly any 7" or 8" wheel with a medium/high offset.... lastly, since you have a UCF10. brake clearance shouldn't be an issue with any BBS wheel that I know of. The first gens didn't have very beefy brakes
As far as where to find old school BBS'.... that can be tricky. Ebay always has some, but you might be getting knockoffs.... I always order wheels through croooober. They offer worldwide shipping and have a ridiculous amount of aftermarket parts for insanely cheap. I picked up a set of 18" Work wheels for $450 with 4 day shipping straight from Japan, and a set of coilovers for about $400 that retail for $850 in the US. Good luck and show progress if you can!
