Default Passenger side wiper insert

Bought a Bosch replacement and while the driver side fits well, the passenger side seems to be puleld up from the glass at the outer edge. Not sure if the LS needs a special passenger side wiper insert due to the curve of windshield and the angle of the wiper arm. Thanks.

I assume you're using the micro-edge (black and gray package with metal frame)... those metal frames aren't made to fit any particular vehicle. I have the Bosch Icon blades on my LS and I have no coverage problems. Maybe try the better blade next time... I think they're well worth the money and have a little patch that changes colors when they should be changed

not to insult your intelligence but did you remember to transfer the metal inserts to the new wiper blades? i made the mistake of not doing that at first and it left patterns on my windshield like an MLB stadium's outfield lol

Do deal with the wipers, do this. And actually its in the owners manual to turn on the wipers and then turn off the ignition switch to stop the driver side when it sweeps over to the top or far left. Then I open the hood, or do that first. Also if you still are going to bump the hood with the wiper arm, use electrical tape on the edge of the hood. It is easy to scratch the paint off the rear edge of the hood. I have a car that someone did that to.

no there are no special insert necessary. are you sure you have the right length? it is possible the new blades do not fully contact the glass at the outer edges due to wrong length. all wipers should conform to the glass if the angle isn't too extreme.

I think for 2000 LS, the sizes should be 22 and 16. That's what the application chart said at NAPA. I'll check the manual and make sure.

I bought the Napa exact fit blades in 22 and 16. The hook on the 22 doesn't want to install. 16 works fine though.

Yes, I actually meant blades, not inserts. The 22 fit well for me, but the 16 seems to not touch the glass at the outer edge. Will try to remove and reinstall tomorrow.

I never found an aftermarket passenger side wiper blade that worked well on the 2000 LS400 I drove for 10 years. I could tell that whoever leased my 2000 LS400 for its first three years had tried aftermarket blades since paint was worn off the rear edge of the hood where the passenger side wiper arm hit since some aftermarket blades, including all the ones I tried, stand too high on the windshield. When installing replacement rubber inserts into OEM blades, it is important that the two metal inserts match the curve of the windshield.

Default 1999 ls400 wipers

Years and years ago I read posts here that OEM inserts are the best, so I didn't experiment with aftermarket ones. OEM are only $4 a piece or so, never had a problem with OEM rubber.

This has been my experience with the aftermarket inserts too.

Yes, just looked at the oem passenger blade vs. my aftermarket and the oem seems to be more curved, or designed for this car the best, as is expected. I'll buy oem blades.
