Default Gen 1 front suspension

I don't know what the original UCA ----> Upper Control Arm, used for pivot bushings, the new Moog seems to have spherical joints, anyway that is how they feel to me as you can stick the bolt in the bushing and move it in a position and it stays there. The bushing that the bolt tightens against was about .020 shorter than what came out, I don't like that because it has to pinch that sheet steel mount area that extra amount to seat against the bushing. Also I don't like that the goofy rubber sticks out enough to wear on that clamping area. Since I have to remove most everything again because the new unity strut spring assembly would not match the shock tower bolt pattern, I may sand that down a bit.

I would like to know if any models used a shock tower bolt pattern that is wider than the Gen 1?

As I recall the strut was a very tight fit in those cars. I found them easier to install if I marked one of the studs and the hole it was installed in. As far as the upper control arm goes, you need to send them back and get some that fit correctly or you may end up with a car that will never be able to be aligned correctly.

The stud location was defiantly off, it all went into position very well and would have slipped in just fine if it was made right. China so what do you expect? Amazing they can't get the simple stuff correct. I would like to know who makes the bearing slash mount plate that will fit? Sure if a person wants to drill the holes bigger you could make them fit, but that isn't correct and the product wasn't sold with those instructions. They really need to fix the mess. I'm probably going to go to the nearest auto parts place and figure out what bearing mount plate will fit, when I figure that out then I can order them online. And may end up doing the non assembly shock deal, just didn't want to spend so much on this car.
I did remove the junk strut and had a wrecking yard unit to install as a temp fix.
