My outer drivers door handle has cracked. the far right edge of the handle still remains intact and the door can be opened by using one finger to grab the still attached portion of the handle. anyways my question is i have had no luck finding a new handle on ebay/amazon. I called my local dealer and they were able to find me a new one. However it is the wrong color. Its white, they didnt have any available in Baroque Red. I guess i cant be picky because according to the parts guy i spoke with he only saw 2 available in the entire country. I had them ship it to my closest lexus dealer and they now have it available. Price is $180, plus whatever it is gonna cost to have it painted.

My question is this. Are there any other sources for this part, maybe something i havent considered. Used ones are cheaper but im not gonna put a used one on and have it break on me in a few weeks.

I dont think these handles are prone to breaking like the earlier ones, but this is what I found..

These handles are usually pretty strong. I have saw a couple of threads where they broke but it's not at all common. I actually brought a used drover door handle because I broke the clips when I was installing a used actuator. I had to buy the whole thing since they don't sell the clips separately. I still have the handle sitting around but it's green.

i just picked up a new door handle from my lexus dealer. Only one they could find was in white. A local body shop is charging $25 to paint it. $190 for the handle and another $25 to paint. I plan on putting it on myself this weekend. Are there any instructions specific to the 98-2000 models? I only found this link but it is for 90-94 models. IS it pretty much the same setup?

your lexus dealership is giving you the run around, possibly because of the part number you used.
properly colored handles are available.


The 1st gen tutorial isn't an exact match but is close enough for you to figure it out.
