Default from 1 acura to 2 lexus! new guy here!

Hi,
This is my first post but I have been ghosting around for a few weeks reading up on my current projects and daily so that im aware of the common things to know and those not so common. So I made the switch from acura (owned a '07 6mt TL-TYPE S before) to this brand a month back by way of purchasing a 99 LS400 W/just 106k from a old farmer from around here. Also while I was in seattle last week I also bought a 04 GX470 too

although Im really enjoying both vehicles, the LS currently sits in the garage bcus it needs a new bumper (the original one is cracked and sagging and it bugs me to drive it like that) but I cant seem to find one, I have looked into perhaps buying a VIP/JDM kit but cant find a reliable source for one or a company that has them readily available in the warehouse. If you guys could point me to the right direction to source the bumper I really appreciate it. Thanks.

ill try to check in and see what's good as often as possible but I make no promises. once again thanks.

I don't know if they have them readily available, but this is probably your best bet for VIP front bumpers: http://kyoei-usa.com/products.asp?cat=747
Otherwise, sit on ebay and car part salvage sites to find a bumper. It took me about 3 months to find one for sale. Just have to be patient.

I would say for an OEM bumper, don't pay more than $300-$500 for a mint one. There's 2 for sale on ebay at the moment, and they are both not in the best shape. One for $780, one for $960. But the 760 one has an oem bumper pole, which might almost be worth it.
$780:

I had came across this company before but I tried contacting them and they never pick up their phone nor do they answer emails either, im not about to sit there and beg them for attention. I had the car for about a month already so im not in a hurry, I got plenty of patience. thanks for the reply tho.

thanks for the heads up on these ill check them out once I get home since the firewall at work wont allow me to go check ebay... anything over $500 for a OEM bumper seems a bit steep but ill check it out.

- in the mean time ill keep waiting and calling junk yards to see if I find one by luck.

- Thanks guys..

I was lucky enough to run into a guy that scraps and sells parts for a living. I asked him to help me find a bumper and he sold me a flawless oem bumper with fog lights for $350. You'll find one eventually.

A much cheaper alternative is to fix your own. Something I just spent a couple of days doing myself.
Mine was broken in half near the join at the fender. Sagging and sorry looking. I pulled off the bumper cover, glued it in three places with SEM bumper repair, sanded it down and painted it. I was skeptical that the repair would hold, but that stuff was amazingly strong after it hardened. I might do a write up on the repair. Stay tuned.

My front bumper has a split right in the middle of where the molding goes. I'm hoping that I can fix it with something similar.

This is where I was at. There's two major breaks--the vertical break up near the headlamp and another long horizontal break that is clearly visible above the side marker lamp. There's also a break in the fog light box. The spot of the vertical break is where the bumper bolts to the fender. There's two nuts attaching the bumper cover there and they put stress on that spot if something happens to catch on the bottom of the bumper while the car is moving. That spot is also the thinnest area of the bumper cover, which is why it breaks like a cracker there.

Help me!

Working on the fix:

It's back on the car and the fix is doing nicely, but I'm going to pull it back off and do some more paint work on it. I'm also going to try my hand at repairing the rust spot on the fender. I'm going to write up what I did in the next week or so and post it. There's definitely some stuff to watch out for that I learned the hard way.

I'm intimately familiar with both bumpers, I've had them on and off the car so many times. I repaired with this since I read so many good things about it but the repair opened but up. It's probably from it being my first attempt at body work lol
