I would like to see if I can get insurance-by-the-mile but the device has to plug into an OBD port. Has anyone checked into the possibility of using one of these devices to lower your insurance costs? Can it be used in the '93 LS400?

The 93 model does not have an Obd port that is compatible with OBD II. It has a port in the engine bay for diagnostics at the dealer but you won't find one in the cabin area.

Well I don't have a 93, but I can tell you that a 90 and 92 do have an OBD1 port under the dash at the far left side. OBD2 didn't happen till 96 but I do think some 95's have them.
Since a 1990 has 2 ports one in the cabin area and one on the engine, I'm very sure that a 93 and 94 would have the same!

the insurance OBD port devices are only for cars with OBDII ports, meaning cars 95-up. your car is not compatible for the device.
