Default need help '90 ls400 runs sluggish, smells of gas when slowing/accelerating

Ok long story short: in Aug of last year my serpentine belt broke so we replaced it, Jan 1st it happened again. Closer look at it and the a.c. compressor had 2 sheared bolts and one still fine so we got a shorter belt and completely passed the a.c. compressor. In Jan the car also started running like it was out of time but it wasn't, sluggish and pretty close to no acceleration at all. No check engine lights or anything. Since then it has continued to run sluggish, even when idling, starts fine and runs decently in colder weather until it heats up, gas mileage has gone to poo, hardly no power upon acceleration (going uphill? Good luck) and lastly it's started to reek of gas. You can really smell it when you slow down or are at slow speeds or stopped completely but still in drive. I haven't done anything to it since replacing the serpentine belt and have no clue where to start at next. Please help?!

Change engine coolant temperature sensor. Next is possible cold start valve leaking. Next or do it first is Yamae's ecu ripple test.

Check your Air Flow Meter. Very common problem on these cars. It usually doesnt set the engine light unless its unplugged. When it goes bad the engine doesnt get the right air/fuel mixture so you smell the gas. If you unplug it, that will get rid of the sluggish problem but will cause other problems in the future.

Really ? I thought it was one of the least problematic sensors on the cars. Maybe on the newer ones that don't use the karman vortex sensor.
