Horn honking when turning
This is my first lexus and I love it!! I have a 99 ls400 and the other day when I used the horn caused it to start sounding when turning.....not sure what it is, have a feeling it could be the clock spring but not even sure how to get to it........

Its just funny to me that we all have certain problems with these cars, and then there is Geo and Chev metro's that are almost trouble free. I have never had a car that has had the problem you describe. I don't know for sure on the Ls but most cars the horn button completes the ground circuit, so if the wire or something else wears enough to bare insulation and then touches metal then you would have the horn going off. I don't see how using the horn button would cause the problem unless there is something that became loose and falls onto the terminals. Before working on it you will want to study how to power down the SRS (air bag). Most cars its disconnect the battery for over 15 minutes.

Nothing about disabling the air bag in the horn inspection, but I added a graphic from steering wheel removal. The wait specified there is 90 seconds, but that includes unplugging the air bag.

I had a base model Toyota Echo once, that didn't even have a clock.... and that was the most granite solid car i have ever owned... Timing chain, no power anything... nothing to go wrong at all..... i ended up selling it after a few years because I was bored with it never needing work!
As far as the horn issue goes... I have nothing new to add... but yeah, something is grounding out where it shouldn't be

Thanks everyone for your help. I opened up the steering wheel and it was grounding out while i was turning. Disassembled it completely and made sure that there were no grounding issues and problem solved!!!!

A friend of his hooked the horn wires up to the power steering solenoid as a prank. So his friend came clean, got a good laugh (and a bloody nose) and fixed it. Problem solved.

@dicer it seemed to be shorting out at the two metal pieces on the airbag area. the metal pieces that completed the ground circuit were sticking a little.
